Article III of the By-Laws of The Association of Ohio Long Rifle Collectors (AOLRC) outlines the “Purposes and Objectives” of the organization. Article II requires the AOLRC to “...do any and all things of every kind of nature whatsoever, which may be useful, convenient, possible to do in connection with, as part of, incidental to, or supplemental to...” the purposes of the organization.
At the April 6, 2025 Board of Directors Annual Meeting, the Board approved a motion to explore the awarding of a cash honorarium to any organization that conducts an organized youth activity that promotes, encourages, educates, and advances knowledge of the skills necessary for the exploration and settlement of the Northwest Territory.
All aspects of self-sufficiency necessary for “pioneering life” may be included as part of the educational experience. The importance of the muzzleloading rifle and the necessary accompanying accouterments may be emphasized, but the curriculum should extend beyond the rifle itself to include the broad range of skills, knowledge, and resourcefulness necessary to build a successful life on the frontier.
Any current member of the AOLRC may submit an Application for Consideration for the Award for Excellence in Educational Activities based on his or her knowledge of the youth activity named in the application.
